First and foremost we have to track back to Bulma. In the manga, Bulma’s hair was originally purple, however when it got transferred over to anime, the studio thought it was blue, so they made it blue. it originally was purple in Dragonball. Almost the same exact thing happened for Trunks when they introduced the Future Trunks arc. However, the Studio remembered what happened with Bulma, and decided to keep his hair purple. So we all accepted the hair color and I personally think it fits both of them in Dragonball Z. Now for Dragonball Super. In Dragonball Super, Akira redesigned trunks and gave him Blue hair in the new concept so that he would look more like Bulma’s son. So, once he handed that design over to Toei animation studios, they gave Future Trunks Blue hair. And that’s exactly what happened! It’s pretty funny though as to how such favorite characters turned out to be by accident when it came to the colors. but as for now, I still find it weird that Trunks has Blue hair instead of Purple. I felt as if we had so much time with him in Z and even kid Trunks has purple hair. So I don’t know what Toei is doing or thinking, but hopefully, they figure it out soon!
