It had a manga adaptation too which is also rolling on high sales. 8bit did make some minor changes in the anime but the overall plot is still the same. However, it is an undeniable fact that 8bit has done a great job in both the season. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 seems to have concluded with the 36th episode. Tuesday will indeed feel a lot heavier without another episode of this isekai series. However, fans need not worry as episode 36 was not the series finale. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime season 2 is a split cour, meaning it will be a short while until the second cour comes out. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming second cour of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2.
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime: Episode 36
Spoiler alert: There are major spoilers of episode 36 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. If you haven’t watched the episode, refrain from reading ahead. However, if you want a spoilt preview of the episode, keep reading! The first cour of the second season had a lot going on. The 36th episode more or less concludes the events of the previous episode. At the same time, the episode gives us some content to look forward to in the second cour. The 36th episode has four major events: The awakening of Rimuru, the destruction of Eurazania, Rimuru finally meets the Primordial Black, and the return of Veldora Tempest.
Rimuru Tempest: Awakening
The episode opens with a flashback from before Rimuru went to war with the Falmuth Kingdom. Here, Benimaru and Rimuru decide on a password to confirm Rimuru’s sanity after he becomes a Demon Lord. Next, we see Rimuru waking up in Shion’s lap after three days. Everyone has been resurrected, meaning that his plan was successful. He notices changes in everyone. Rafael, his evolved ultimate skill answers that because of the gifts of Rimuru’s evolution into a Demon Lord, everyone under him has also evolved. Rimuru shows his curiosity as he notices that the Great Sage sounds more fluent. In reply, she says that he is only imagining it and continues being persistent. She further explains that due to her evolution, she can now answer every question. After all the death and destruction, we finally get to see more of the cute side of Rimuru. Benimaru brings up the password by asking ‘What do you think of Shion’s cooking?’. As per their discussion, Rimuru has to reply with, ‘It is shit.’ which brings our newborn Demon Lord to a pickle. He asks Rafael for an escape to which she only replies with ‘The answer….does not exist!’. However, our little slime comes up with a cheeky reply and puts it all on Benimaru by saying that he wanted Rimuru to say that Shion’s cooking is shit. As revenge, Shion walks ahead to ‘cook’ something for Benimaru. He can only get on his knees as he mentions that Shion’s cooking has developed a ‘poison resistance’ in his body. Yes, Shion cooks just that bad. Also Read That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Episode 35
The Destruction of Eurazania
A few episodes back before the Falmuth soldiers had attacked Tempest, we had already been notified that Demon Lord Milim was declaring war against The Kingdom of Beasts, Eurazania. Rimuru meets Albis, Suphia, and Phobio who have come to Tempest seeking refuge for their people. They tell Rimuru about the destruction that fell upon Eurazania. Lord Carrion commanded his three loyal followers to take the people of Eurazania to Jura. When they suggested assisting him in the war, he strictly told them to not take part in the fight. He decides to take Milim on by himself. Phobio conveys his thoughts on Milim and indirectly lets out that she is stronger than Carrion. In the war, Carrion first asks Milim if she is under Clayman’s influence. When she says nothing, he does not hold back and takes the form of the Royal Beast using his ultimate skill. He attacks Milim with all his strength but it barely affects her. As a retaliation, she transforms into her combat form: Milim Nava. She attacks him with her Drago Nava, thus destroying Eurazania. After this, Frey, another Demon Lord appears from the back. It does look like she slices his throat but the scene changes before it can be confirmed. Back in the present, Rimuru expresses his doubts since he knows Milim does not like teaming up nor appreciates someone interfering in her battles. They learn from Phobio that Frey had not moved to her domain but instead had gone to Clayman. Suphia almost leaves to fight him but is stopped by Albis and Rimuru. Albis suggests that they all go together to avenge Carrion. However, Rimuru says that they must wait before making rash decisions.
Rimuru Meets The Primordial Black
After the meeting with the subordinates of Carrion, Rimuru rests on Ranga’s back under the tree. The archdemon appears before him. However, Rimuru has no memory of his first meeting with him since the Harvest Festival had deeply exhausted him before. He asks the demon who he is to which The Primordial Black only shows disappointment in not being remembered. Ranga clears Rimuru’s doubts as he tells him that this was the demon that he had summoned. Rimuru, unable to understand the demon’s intention misunderstands the situation and tells him that he can go back home now. The Primordial Black is further saddened at the sudden dismiss and asks to serve Rimuru. But, Rimuru is still shocked to know that he summoned a demon so strong. Flattered, Rimuru asks him to stop addressing him as Master and casually asks him to call him Rimuru (while blushing). On being asked about the name, The Primordial Black reveals that he is nameless. After some thought, Rimuru bestows him with the name ‘Diablo’. Rimuru feels about 50% of his magicule consumed while naming him. He compares it with the time when he named the Greater Demon Beretta. Rafael interrupts and tells him that the comparison is incorrect since Rimuru is now ten times stronger. Following Diablo’s evolution, he now appears in a butler’s uniform. He senses Rimuru’s concern since the naming had formed a bond. On being asked, Rimuru tells Diablo about the various obstacles he has yet to resolve. When he mentions the Western Holy Church, Rafael tells him that he has nothing to worry about from the Holy Church. She reports that the analysis of the Unlimited Imprisonment that sealed Veldora is almost complete.
Veldora Tempest Returns
Veldora, the true dragon that Rimuru had consumed at the beginning of the anime (season 1) is now ready to be released too. Rafael says that once he is released, the Holy Church will not involve with the business of Tempest. Rimuru teleports to the cave where he met Veldora after his conversation with Diablo. He now has two major ultimate skills, Rafael and Beelzebub. Rimuru takes his human form and notices that this form has grown taller too. Then he makes a body double to make a vessel for Veldora. Once Veldora is transferred into the vessel, it changes its form into a big man with blonde hair. He wears a black cape and is slightly tanned and looks absolutely magnificent. The final episode of the first cour concludes with Veldora’s transformation. Also Read: Re Zero Starting Life In Another World: Season 2 Episode 24: Preview and Recap
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 Part 2: Release Date
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 Part 2 will be released in July 2021. As mentioned, this is not the end of season 2 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime but only the end of the first cour. Although the first cour ended quite satisfactorily, we can still look forward to the next cour with as much enthusiasm. After the Coronavirus pandemic, the series was postponed because of which the anime had to push its second cour further ahead. In March 2021, there was a confirmation from Kodansha and 8Bit that the second cour will in fact be released in July 2021. The following tweet by @ten_sura_anime was retweeted by 8bit Studio, which confirms the release of the second cour in July.
4/6からは「転スラ日記」を放送、7月より第2期第2部放送となります。 まずは本日各局で放送の第36話をお楽しみください! 杉P#転スラ #tensura — 【公式】TVアニメ『転生したらスライムだった件』 (@ten_sura_anime) March 30, 2021 The official date for the premiere of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2, Part 2 has not been set. The only thing that has so far been confirmed is that it will come out in July. You can keep yourself updated by following the Twitter accounts of 8Bit Studio and Kodansha. Release Date Prediction: However, we can make some assumptions about the second cour from the facts that we have gathered. Since the second part of the second season will come out in July, we can assume that the series will premiere in the first two weeks. The episodes have been released every Tuesday so far. If the creators decide to air it on the same day again, the series might begin on one of the Tuesday of July. This could mean that the series may (or may not) air Episode 37 on the 6th, 13th, 20th, or the 27th of July. Once again, this is only an assumption made keeping in mind that the anime follows the same routine as the first cour. Further details such as the trailer, new cast, and crew are yet to be announced. All you can do is follow the concerned company on social media to stay updated. The wait is long, definitely, but worthwhile. While you wait, a 12 episode spin-off of the anime series named Slime Diaries will start airing from 6 April 2021. Prediction For Number of Episodes The first cour of the anime ended with 12 episodes. Furthermore, the first season had a total of 24 episodes. Although the number of episodes has not been confirmed, the above two facts place a solid base for us to assume that the second season of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime will have a total of 24 episodes. This leaves us to assume that the second cour of the anime will have 12 episodes. This piece of information, although not officially confirmed is highly likely to be true. However, once again, with only three months left for the release of the cour, it might not be long before all the details are officially confirmed.
What to Expect From The Second Cour?
Confused about where to begin reading from?
The first cour of the anime That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 has successfully covered the ‘Birth of a Demon Lord’ arc from the web novel. The arc covers chapters 65 till chapter 83. 8Bit has animated up to chapter 74 titled ‘Veldora’ in the series so far. The web novel has been adapted from the Light Novel. There have been some changes although the overall content is more or less the same. The first cour of season 2 has covered the fifth volume of the Light novel, titled ‘Demon Lord Awakening’. The same content in the manga adaptation lies from Volume 10 to Volume 15. So, if you cannot wait any longer for the next cour and are curious about what happens next, you can read either of these sources to get an idea of what’s coming up. If you follow the web novel, you can start from chapter 75, titled ‘Conference’. For the manga adaptation, you can begin with volume 16. As for light novel readers, you can continue from volume 6. However, if you would rather prefer the thrill of suspense over reading these sources, there is a lot to look forward to in the upcoming cour. The anime has only started with many things to ponder upon. Clayman has been an antagonist since the first season. It’s probably high time that we find the intention behind his actions. Moreover, we have known Milim since the first season too and she has been a lovable character. So what’s got her acting up lately? Now that Rimuru has become the Demon Lord, it is rather thrilling to wonder all the things he could and would do. Moreover, he has a Primordial Black at his service and a true dragon as his ally. Things are just starting to get exciting at That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.
